If I were to imagine a life without you, I think it would be drastically different.&nbsp;
I think I&rsquo;d be a doctor. A cardiothoracic surgeon, to be exact. I would make my rounds until the morning sun peeks through the clouds, walking the halls so often it feels like my feet are becoming one with the ground. I would rest in the on-call room around half past five in the morning, just a few hours before my 10 AM shift. I&rsquo;ll barely sleep at all. I don&rsquo;t sleep well without company.
If not a doctor, I&rsquo;d probably be a lawyer. A criminal lawyer, specifically. My office would be cold and monotonous like all lawyers&rsquo; offices seem to be&mdash; a psychological tactic I&rsquo;d probably never understand. The desk I occupy would be piled with mountains of paperwork I&rsquo;d try to manage every day. Sometimes, I&rsquo;ll feel like it&rsquo;s trying to bury me. Most of the time, it actually would.
And, if not a lawyer, I&rsquo;d probably be an artist. A singer, more precisely. I&rsquo;d write the lyrics alone in the band&rsquo;s studio where I stay. I wouldn&rsquo;t go home often; the hassle of commuting would be too much. The struggle of living alone would be even worse. All my songs will be about the love I never experienced because, in that life, you wouldn&rsquo;t be there.
It seems funny how all these scenarios are far from the life I live now. I&rsquo;m no doctor, no lawyer, nor singer.&nbsp;
Today, I am simply a writer.
But with you, I was a poet.
And maybe that&rsquo;s the most drastic change I could ever experience when I experienced losing you.
