Transport group Manibela will initiate a nationwide transportation strike starting on Monday, October 16th. The strike aims to pressure the government into addressing the alleged corruption within the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
On Monday, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. issued the suspension of Guadiz, prompted by allegations from his former aide, Jeffrey Tumbado, accusing him of accepting bribes in exchange for franchise permits, additional routes, and special permits.

Mar Valbuena, the chairman of Manibela, told CNN Philippines on Tuesday that many officials implicated in the case still hold their positions. Tumbado is set to file graft complaints against these officials as part of the "ruta for sale" scheme, with Manibela joining as a co-complainant.
According to the former executive assistant, Guadiz received instructions for these corrupt practices from "higher-ups" in the Department of Transportation and Malaca&ntilde;ang.
Valbuena further emphasized that the group is also protesting the December 31st deadline for the consolidation of traditional jeepney franchise holders, stating that they feel continually pressured by the provisional authority's deadline.
Manibela disclosed that thousands of jeepney drivers, as well as drivers of UV Express, taxis, and Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS), will participate in the strike. The strike's duration and its end date have yet to be determined, Valbuena said.
