Calling all theater lovers! There&rsquo;s a new play for you to watch out for that will definitely hit home!
As the Sandbox Collective celebrates its 10th anniversary, it will hold its year-ender with the play &ldquo;Tiny Beautiful Things: A play about life&ndash; in letters.&rdquo; &nbsp;The play is based on the book by Cheryl Strayed.
Tiny Beautiful Things features Iza Calzado who plays the main character, &ldquo;Sugar,&rdquo; the anonymous advice columnist. The play revolves around various characters from different walks of life seeking advice from Sugar. The plot ultimately aims to become relatable to a wide audience as multiple kinds of stories arise from the cast&rsquo;s experiences.
The letter writers will be played by Rody Vera, Gabby Paddila, Ketchup Eusebio, Regina De Vera, and Brian Sy. Tiny Beautiful Things will be directed by Gawad Buhay Awardee Jenny Jamora and Marcel David as assistant director.
The cast shared that the play is relevant today because it reflects that we are not alone in the journey of life wherein we experience a lot. It also explores the aftereffects of being broken but still being worthy of &lsquo;tiny, beautiful things.&rsquo;
Iza revealed that she enjoyed the cast and company as everyone did greatly with their roles. The rest of the cast also disclosed that the play felt like a group therapy session for everyone. To wrap it up, Regina De Vera describes Tiny Beautiful Things as a non-prescriptive map for life.
