Theory posits that the universe is one big question&ndash;no one truly knows anything from the start. We weren&rsquo;t born with an explanation written on our palms. The post office doesn&rsquo;t mail us a manual on our birthday, nor does the internet provide a detailed walkthrough of the moments we&rsquo;ll encounter. Wala tayong cheat code. There&rsquo;s no single guide on the wrong and right choices because even a human&rsquo;s moral compass is subject to cultural biases.&nbsp;
The only sure thing is that everything we&rsquo;ve ever learned is a question answered. And I&rsquo;ve had my fair share of learnings so far.
However, it seems that I must be dumber than I thought. I&rsquo;ve given myself too much credit because I can solve complicated problems, but when it comes to my own, my mind goes blank. It&rsquo;s funny. Uncanny. Ironic. It&rsquo;s so stupid how I&rsquo;ve memorized arithmetic, yet I can&rsquo;t silence the inquisitive voice that persistently haunts me at night.&nbsp;
How is it so hard for me to answer a question that I should&rsquo;ve known the answer to in the first place? How is it so difficult to find the reason when I&rsquo;m practically living in it?
God, how do I not know how we ended up here?&nbsp;
I should&rsquo;ve realized that this was the direction we were taking before we took a hit. It didn&rsquo;t even click at first&ndash;the crash. The wall in front of our path didn&rsquo;t register. I was so caught up in looking at the side mirror to view the past that it only sank in when I turned to face you, and the eyes that stared back at me were hollow.&nbsp;
When I looked in the mirror, my eyes were the same shade of the void, too.
After that crash, the rest was history. Pieces of what once were ours were no longer salvageable. No matter how hard we tried, we couldn&rsquo;t glue the relationship back together. It was heartbreaking to watch us carry parts of ourselves that we didn&rsquo;t even recognize anymore, so we had no choice but to let it go and move on.&nbsp;
The idea of losing you after 7 years never crossed my mind until it already happened. Perhaps the 7-year itch is true. Perhaps I should&rsquo;ve heeded the warning before it became a reality for us two.
