As of October 15, 2024, motorists traveling on the &nbsp;North-Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Connector are now faced with higher toll fees. This comes after nearly a year of enjoying discounted rates following the opening of the Espa&ntilde;a to Magsaysay Boulevard section in late 2023. With these new fees, small vehicles will now pay a minimum of P119, moving the charge for Class 1 vehicles into the three-digit range.
The increase, approved by the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), is part of a gradual plan to lessen the impact of the toll hike. For now, Class 1 vehicles like cars and motorcycles will be charged P119, while larger vehicles such as buses and light trucks (Class 2) will pay P299. Heavy trucks (Class 3) are set to pay P418 for this section of the expressway. Motorists may want to prepare for further increases once the NLEX Connector is fully completed.
The NLEX Connector, an eight-kilometer elevated expressway, is an important infrastructure project that aims to improve traffic flow between the northern and southern parts of Metro Manila. Connecting NLEX with the Skyway network, it offers an alternative route for those navigating the busy roads of the metro, with its endpoint located at Sta. Mesa, Manila.
Despite the higher toll rates, the convenience of faster travel times and less traffic may still be worth the cost for many. With more of the NLEX Connector project set to open in the coming months, regular expressway users are encouraged to stay updated on further developments and fee adjustments.
