The LRT-1 will be taking a short break for three weekends&mdash;August 17-18, August 24-25, and August 31-September 1. This pause is all part of the preparations for the much-anticipated Cavite Extension Phase 1, set to be unveiled later this year.
While the LRT-1 is on hold, trains won't be running between the Fernando Poe Jr. station and Baclaran station. It might be a small inconvenience now, but the bigger picture is pretty exciting. Once the extension is complete, you can zip from Baclaran in Pasay City to Niog in Cavite in just 25 minutes&mdash;way faster than the usual hour-plus drive.

The project is moving along at a solid pace, with Phase 1 almost done at 98.2 percent completion as of April. This extension adds 6.2 kilometers to the existing line, with new stations popping up along the way. This includes stops near the airport and at key points in Para&ntilde;aque.
